The Key to the Master’s Orders

Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest —Matthew 9:38 The key to the missionary’s difficult task is in the hand of God, and that key is prayer, not work— that is, not work as the word is commonly used today, which often results in the shifting of our focus away from God. The key to the missionary’s difficult task is also not the key of common sense, nor is it the key of medicine, civilization, education, or even evangelization. The key is in following the Master’s orders— the key is prayer. "Pray the Lord of the harvest . . . ." In the natural realm, prayer is not practical but absurd. We have to realize that prayer is foolish from the commonsense point of view. From Jesus Christ’s perspective, there are no nations, but only the world . How many of us pray without regard to the persons, but with regard to only one Person— Jesus Christ? He owns the harvest that is produced through distress and through conviction of sin. This is the harvest for which...

watchmen

As a Christian, God places you as a watchman for yourself, your friends, your family, and your church family.. . God may choose to give you words of encouragement to share with your friend.. . If you are spiritually alert, you may receive a warning from God that addresses specific dangers that those around you are facing.. .Strive to be attentive to every word that comes to you from God.. . Your diligence will benefit you and those around you as you heed God's warnings and follow His commands. -Experiencing God I don't know if everyone is called to be a watchman.. . in older times, there are watchmen staying on the walls, looking out if there's an enemy coming.. . or whatever.. . they alert the people and tell them if they need to prepare for something.. . this setting was applied before because countries are surrounded by walls and they really have to have a look out for them to be informed if there's an enemy coming.. . Nowadays, it seems that there is no physical ne...

The Assigning of the Call

I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church . . . —Colossians 1:24 We take our own spiritual consecration and try to make it into a call of God, but when we get right with Him He brushes all this aside. Then He gives us a tremendous, riveting pain to fasten our attention on something that we never even dreamed could be His call for us. And for one radiant, flashing moment we see His purpose, and we say, "Here am I! Send me" ( Isaiah 6:8 ). This call has nothing to do with personal sanctification, but with being made broken bread and poured-out wine. Yet God can never make us into wine if we object to the fingers He chooses to use to crush us. We say, "If God would only use His own fingers, and make me broken bread and poured-out wine in a special way, then I wouldn’t object!" But when He uses someone we dislike, or some set of circumstances to which we ...

The Awareness of the Call

. . . for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel! —1 Corinthians 9:16 We are inclined to forget the deeply spiritual and supernatural touch of God. If you are able to tell exactly where you were when you received the call of God and can explain all about it, I question whether you have truly been called. The call of God does not come like that; it is much more supernatural. The realization of the call in a person’s life may come like a clap of thunder or it may dawn gradually. But however quickly or slowly this awareness comes, it is always accompanied with an undercurrent of the supernatural— something that is inexpressible and produces a "glow." At any moment the sudden awareness of this incalculable, supernatural, surprising call that has taken hold of your life may break through— "I chose you . . ." ( John 15:16 ). The call of God has nothing to do with salvation and sanctification. You are not called to preach the gospel beca...

was about to sleep.. . (no, actually, I'm studying haha!) then the documentary (entitled NEWSMAKERS) about the past presidents of the Philippines (from Marcos to Macapagal) caught my attention.. . it's like there are still lots of things that I know nothing about ( well.. .wasn't born yet.. .during the presidency of Marcos.. haha up to the People Power) anyways.. .it's just intriguing ( I must say.. .haha di ko lam kung mahilig lang ba ko sa issues or what.. hehe ) i find studying the past very cool! ( but I don't like history really.. .) it's just that I feel like there's a need to study it.. .or look back.. .what went wrong.. .why our country is like this now.. .why is this and that happening.. . what happened during their presidency.. . stuffs like that.. . were there conspiracies.. . ( for the sake of power?) whatever.. . (and I found out that Ramos is Marcos' cousin.. haha sounds fishy.. .) whatever.. . I don't know.. .maybe to some, this stuf...

Missionary Weapons (1)

When you were under the fig tree, I saw you —John 1:48 Worshiping in Everyday Occasions . We presume that we would be ready for battle if confronted with a great crisis, but it is not the crisis that builds something within us— it simply reveals what we are made of already. Do you find yourself saying, "If God calls me to battle, of course I will rise to the occasion"? Yet you won’t rise to the occasion unless you have done so on God’s training ground. If you are not doing the task that is closest to you now, which God has engineered into your life, when the crisis comes, instead of being fit for battle, you will be revealed as being unfit. Crises always reveal a person’s true character. A private relationship of worshiping God is the greatest essential element of spiritual fitness. The time will come, as Nathanael experienced in this passage, that a private "fig-tree" life will no longer be possible. Everything will be out in the open, and you will find yourself to...

Fountains of Blessings

The water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life —John 4:14 The picture our Lord described here is not that of a simple stream of water, but an overflowing fountain. Continue to "be filled" ( Ephesians 5:18 ) and the sweetness of your vital relationship to Jesus will flow as generously out of you as it has been given to you. If you find that His life is not springing up as it should, you are to blame— something is obstructing the flow. Was Jesus saying to stay focused on the Source so that you may be blessed personally? No, you are to focus on the Source so that out of you "will flow rivers of living water"— irrepressible life ( John 7:38 ). We are to be fountains through which Jesus can flow as "rivers of living water" in blessing to everyone. Yet some of us are like the Dead Sea, always receiving but never giving, because our relationship is not right with the Lord Jesus. As surely as we rece...

The Cross in Prayer

In that day you will ask in My name . . . —John 16:26 We too often think of the Cross of Christ as something we have to get through, yet we get through for the purpose of getting into it. The Cross represents only one thing for us— complete, entire, absolute identification with the Lord Jesus Christ— and there is nothing in which this identification is more real to us than in prayer. "Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him" ( Matthew 6:8 ). Then why should we ask? The point of prayer is not to get answers from God, but to have perfect and complete oneness with Him. If we pray only because we want answers, we will become irritated and angry with God. We receive an answer every time we pray, but it does not always come in the way we expect, and our spiritual irritation shows our refusal to identify ourselves truly with our Lord in prayer. We are not here to prove that God answers prayer, but to be living trophies of God’s grace. ". . . I do no...

unlearning

.. . have you ever experienced a point in your life wherein in little by little, you're realizing that you don't know how to do the things you used to do.. .? the things you're good at? the UNLEARNING process.. . i remember one time, i posted a blog entry from utmost for His Highest entitled Do you see Jesus in your clouds? and a line from that devotional caught me.. .pierced my heart.. .it says.. . Through every cloud He brings our way, He wants us to unlearn something. hoooh.. . i know this one really spoke to me.. .but i haven't realized the whole concept until yesterday.. . to UNLEARN to the truest sense of the word UNLEARN .. . hooh.. first is unlearning this one.. .and then this one.. .and then this one.. . and this morning I was reminded of Moses.. . a great man.. .intelligent.. .wealthy.. .but at some point in time, God brought him to the desert.. .for him to unlearn everything.. .and learn just ONE THING - HIM.. . to trust Him.. .be satisfied with Him.. ...

i have Him...

... and that's what matters.. . I can really relate with the passage below.. . and it's just so timely.. . this day is really challenging.. . and indeed it's a test of faith.. . whose principle would you choose if you are faced with the principles of this world -- which is focused on physical attributes.. . if you would look at what the world is looking at, you'll find out that you lack everything.. . and that would be a very great stressor.. . i have heard once that the reason not to be happy is to compare yourself with others.. . but sometimes we tend to look at other people.. . how good they are in an area.. . etc.. . and sometimes upon realizing that, i really feel so low.. . ^^, but then I thank Him for His Grace.. . He's always reminding me that all i need is HIM.. . and that's a very very big advantage.. . the people may have everything in this world.. . but if they don't have Jesus, they'd feel very very empty.. . you may be good at one thing.. ...

I told Him that if the job will hinder me from ministering, I won't take it.. . and then haha! last week, I applied as an english instructor.. . and I was just amazed.. I had interviews yesterday and my training started this morning! hahahaha! I felt so blessed and so thankful yesterday during the interview.. . was just overwhelmed at how He moved.. . and so surprised that the job He gave me, it's actually what I prayed for! haha! indeed God answers while you wait. haha! and it's really worth it! yun nga lang, sa bandang likod ng megamall ung place.. . but it's fine.. . i just...

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; -Isaiah 61:1-2 *** ^^,
